  • At Google I/O, Google unveiled new Gemini-related products and enhancements to its Education suite. They introduced Gemini Education, available in base and premium plans for educators and students over 18. The base plan includes access to Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet, while the premium plan offers AI-powered note-taking, summaries in Meet, and data loss prevention for a subscription cost of $24 per month or $36 per month, respectively. 👨‍💻TikTok files lawsuit to stop ban in USA

  • TikTok has filed a lawsuit to challenge a new US law that could lead to a nationwide ban of the app by mid-January 2025. The legal battle will test whether US security concerns over TikTok's links to China can outweigh the First Amendment rights of its 170 million US users. If TikTok loses, it could face removal from US app stores unless its parent company, ByteDance, sells the app to a non-Chinese entity. TikTok argues that the law is unconstitutional, claiming it restricts Americans' speech and access to lawful information. Read more

  • Uber has unveiled a new offering called Uber Shuttle, aimed at making rides to the airport, concerts, or sporting events more affordable. This service allows users to book up to five seats in a shuttle from a central location to their destination at a cost lower than a regular Uber ride, and without surge pricing. Riders can book their seats up to a week in advance and will receive a QR code ticket to board. Read more
